COMMUNITY TENNIS COURTS PROJECT: WORK PROCEEDING: MORE MONEY NEEDED
INAUGURATED six months ago with the idea of providing sorelyneeded extra tennis courts for Gisborne, an appeal for funds by the P.B. and East Coast Lawn Tennis Association and community courts project has reached a crucial stage.
The site for the new courts on the Victoria Domain is now almost ready for levelling and sowing and the members interested in the project feel that in order to take advantage of an autumn sowing the work must be commenced in the very near future. These undertakings will entail the expenditure of the greatest proportion of the project’s finances. An objective of £2OOO has been set, it being estimated that this amount will cover the laying of the courts and the provision of temporary facilities.
from these have helped the fund considerably. Individual donations are still felt to be the greatest help, however, and the association is looking forward to increased support from those interested in the welfare of tennis in the district.
