FAKIR OF IPI RAIDS PAKISTAN FORT
NEW DELHI, Mar. 6. The Fakir of Ipi, legendary leader of the Waziristan tribes who for years have defied British rule on the Northwest Frontier, launched an attack on the fortress of Thai on the Afghanistan border. Six hundred- of his tribesmen were Beaten off with mortar and machine-gun fire and suffered about 50 casualties.
An army spokesman said the Fakir’s life before partition was devoted to raiding the “infidel” British, but he recently found himself without a means of livelihood.
