Miss Dawn McKay, Cobden street, was a week-end guest of Miss Jill Smith, Bushmere. Mrs. G, Bevan, who was the guest of Mrs. Alan Bruce, Te Araroa, has returned to her home in Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. Lymburn Cowan, Wainui Beach, left yesterday for a holiday in the Marlborough Sounds. Miss E. Patchett has returned to Gisborne after a visit to Christchurch and Auckland. Miss Joy Wauchop was the weekend guest of Mrs. Warwick Spence, Whakarau. Mr. and Mrs. John Dymock, “Lome," Puha, have returned home after staying at Rotoiti. Miss H. Christensen has returned to Palmerston North after visiting Gisborne.

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Bodle, Wainui Beach, paid a visit to Hawke’s Bay at the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Coleman returned on Sunday and have taken up their residence in Rutene road. Mr. and Mrs. Warwick Spence, who visited Hawke’s Bay at the week-end, have returned to their home at Wainui Beach. Mrs. Vincent Barker and Miss Muriel Barker, Stout street, returned on Saturday from a visit to Auckland. A lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth, Lady Spencer, who arrived at Fremantle in the liner Strathedcn, proposes to visit New Zealand after a stay in South Australia. . Her immediate destination is Adelaide, where she will visit her son, who is aide-de-camp to Governor Sir Willoughby Norrie. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Anderson, Wellington, are staying at Almadale. Wing Commander and Mrs. J. Morrison, Wellington, are re-visiting Gisborne and are staying at Almadale. SPORTS DANCE A most enjoyable dance was held after the Ngatapa sports on Saturday in the Ngatapa Hall, which was decorated with coloured streamers. The music was provided by Mr. Jim Vagg’s orchestra, while Mr. John Falkner played the extras. A delicious supper was served by young members of the district. MISS JACK FAREWELLED Miss "Billie” Jack, who has been the showroom buyer of Adair Bros., Limited, for 10 years, has been the guest of honour at several farewell parties. > > Miss Jack is leaving Gisborne on Thursday for Feilding. On her last evening at Adair Bros, the manager, Mr. W. Ward, made her a presentation of a brush and comb set on behalf of the staff.

Miss M. Taylor, on behalf of Adair Bros.’ staff, recently invited guests to the home of Mrs. W. M. Jenkins, Russell street. The guest of honour wore a gold crepe dress with cap sleeves, fitting bodice and a pleated skirt. Miss M. Taylor greeted the guests wearing a figured moss green crepe dress, while Mrs. W. M. Jenkins chose a black crepe frock. Mixed bowls of artisticallyarranged flowers decorated the house.

NGATAPA DINNER PARTIES District people invited friends to their homes for dinner after Saturday's Ngatapa sports and prior to the dance given by the young members of the sports committee.

Mrs. C. H. Horne received a few friends. She wore a maroon marocain dinner frock, and her rooms were bright with asters and carnations to tone with her dress.

Mrs. Alan Broadhurst also had guests for dinner. Her house was decorated with green hydrangeas and Michaelmas daisies, and she chose a red and white patterned crepe dress. Mrs. Angus Dods was another Ngatapa hostess who invited a number of guests to her home. Her home was bedecked with zinnias and Michaelmas daisies She wore a patterned black, white and red Liberty silk frock. Mrs. R. E. Humphreys invited friends to “Wilencote.” She wore a floral wine and white evening dress. Mrs. C. M. Monckton was also a hostess. Her rooms were decorated with bowls of mixed summer flowers, and she wore a patterned Liberty linen with a white background. . Still another hostess, Mrs. IT. E. Cave, decorated her rooms with zinnias and bowls of dahlias.
