De Costa Cup Surf Race
In the week-end surf race, one of a series conducted by the Gisborne Surf Club at the Waikanae Beach. K. Morse won from scratch over a distance of 500yds., his time being 6min. 25sec. Second and third places were taken by B. Preston and L. Clark respectively.
Club members are now in hard training for an inter-club surf meeting at which the Bay of Plenty Cup will be competed for by teams representing Waihi, Tauranga, Whakatane, Wainui and Gisborne clubs. This fixture will be held at Waikanae, and should provide interesting competition.
