MATA DEFEATS RUATORIA
COAST CRICKET
(Herald Correspondent.) The Mata eleven won by 15 runs on the first innirgs when they met Ruatoria .on the latter’s home ground at the weekend. Mata batted first and compiled 107, the highest scorer being G. Mill 26 not out. Ruatoria replied with 92, more than half this total coming from the opening batsmen, T. Wi Repa, whose 56 was a fine effort against accurate bowling. H. Beach, four for 29, and B. Whangapirita, six for 39. bowled throughout Mata’s second innings, which realised 83, and Ruatoria had only scored 29 for four wickets down when time expired. The best bowling averages for Mata were Copas, three for 18, and Hamilton, seven for 48. Details: —
