FIRE DESTROYS AUCKLAND SAWMILL -LOSS ABOUT £BOOO
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Alar. 5. Fire caused an estimated £BOOO worth of damage to the timber mill of C. and A. Odlin Company, Limited, at Newmarket this morning.
It destroyed the mill building and has destroyed or seriously damaged about 35,000 feet of timber —enough to build five houses. The bulk of the company's stock was saved. Six fire engines were rushed to the fire. A spark from a passing locomotive is believed to have caused the outbreak as the mill is only a few feet from the railway line.
