In the Waikiwi Handicap Stuart King paid just over £IOO on the win machine, and in the same race Elegant Lady paid nearly £SO for a place. After the running of the Au Revoir Handicap the Washdyke trainer P. P. Gallagher was called before the stipendiary stewards and that £l.O for unseemly conduct and an improper approach to the handicapper. Gallagher objected to the penalty Foreign Lady, winner of the Visitors’ Handicap, was given in the Au Revoir Handicap. The totalisator handled £35,705 10s, compared with £38,360 10s last year.
