SINGLE DIRECT WINS INTER-DOMINION TROTTING TITLE

(9.30 a.m.) ADELAIDE, Mar. 7. Before a crowd officially estimated at 45,000, Single Direct provided a dashing and faultless display to win the big prize worth £BSOO at Wayville on Saturday night. The rcinsman, Kennerley, followed Amorous throughout behind the pacemakers New McElwyn and Hatteras. Drawing level at the home turn, Single Direct outfought the leaders in a tenacious finish, winning by five yards with six yards between second and third. Time, 3.58. The winner's mile gait, 2.14 1-5. was also the fastest, but was 2.9 sec. outside the track record. Result: INTER-DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIP, 1 mile and 6 fur.-—SINGLE DIRECT, 36yds. bhd. (E. The winner’s share of the prize was £7,250, making his winnings now nearly £24.000 A gold cup worth £IOO was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Elliott by the Governor, Sir Willoughby Norrie, who said the race was one of the best he had ever seen and gave him a great thrill. “One day I hope to own a trotter myself,” said Sir Willoughby, who races gallopers.
