LONDON, Feb. 13Hiring out women’s evening clothes and wedding ens.embles is profitable business in London. One firm, which stocks 4000 dresses for hire at £1 Is to £lO 10s, receives 100 letters daily asking for clothing. Reason for the boom: It takes up to 11 coupons (nearly three months’ ration) to buy an evening gown. Hire firms’ biggest headache is scent. They say women spray dresses liberally with scents which will not come out in cleaning and which may not appeal to the next hirer.
