“Will Not Be Dictated To By Carpenters, Drivers, Watersiders "
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Mar. 4. All Auckland employers concerned in the building dispute stated through their organisation today that they will not accept direction from the carpenters. drivers or the Waterside Workers' Union as to whom they shall employ. This was the outcome of a full meeting of employers affected and representatives of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, Auckland Manufacturers’ Association, Employers’ Association and the Auckland Master Builders’ Association which discussed the boycott threatened by the three unions. A statement which was made yesterday by the secretary of the Auckland branch of the Carpenters and Joiners’ Union, Mr. D. McEwen, that certain firms had indicated that they would not continue to "black list” carpenters was described as “entirely incorrect.”
