INDIA’S ESTIMATED DEFICIT £11,092,000

(11 a.m.) NEW DELHI, Feb. 28. The Indian Finance Minister, Dr. J. Mattaha, estimated a deficit of approximately £11,092,000 at the existing level of taxation when he presented his Budget for the new financial year to Parliament today. The main features of the Budget were:

Revenue for the next year is estimater at £230,805,000 and expenditure at £241,897,000.

Defence services arc estimated to cost £116,572,000 this year and £llß,027,000 next year.

Capital outlay on defence will cost £7,432,000 this year and £11,250,000 next year.
