Kink’s. —"Code of the West,” RKO Radio's screen version of Zana Grey’s well-known novel, which concludes tonight, is laid in the Arizona Strip around the year ISBO when the west was wild and woolly. James Warren has the leading role. The story revolves around a gang of desperadoes who gain political control of a small town and wage war on the settlers. The second featurette to be screened will be "Twisted Road.” Regent.—“A Date With Judy” (Jane Powell) concludes today. Tropical in tempo and temperature is the romance between Esther Williams and Peter Lawford in M.G.M.’s technicoiour musical, “On An Island With You,” which comes tomorrow. Also featured are Ricardo Montalban, Jimmy Durante, dancing Cyd Charisse and Xavier Cugat and his orchestra. Majestic.—lt took a Scot, Robert Louis Stevensoi;, to write one of the most colourful tales of the old frontier days in “Silverado Squatters," which is given film form in "Adventures in Silverado." which opened yesterday. “Roses Are Red,” the associate picture, features Don Castle, Peggy Knudsen and Patricia Knight in leading roles. The story is based on an actual happening and deals with the ease of a city prosecutor who is impersonated by his physical double while a corrupt political machine takes over the affairs of the city.
