Drainage League Backs President

(P.A.) AUCKLAND. Dec. 21. A unanimous vote of confidence in Mr. O. M. Robinson as president of the Auckland and Suburban Drainage League, was carried by about 70 members and others who attended a meeting last night. The meeting, which was the sequel to the recent libel action against the Mayor, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, and the New Zealand Herald, was presided over by the league’s patron. Sir Joseph Smith. In a letter to the league, Mr. Robinson stated that if, after hearing his exDlanation, the majority of members believed he had abused his position and acted detrimentally to the interests of the league it would be open to them to accept his resignation. If the majority agreed he had only carried out the policy of the executive he would be happy to continue his activities. A resolution that Mr. Robinson s resignation certainly be not accepted and that the meeting had complete confidence in him as president and it requested him to carfy on his work was carried without dissent.
