SEDAN CAR STOLEN AND DESTROYED BY FIRE
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 21. Stolen from Manning street, Newton, on Sunday night, a five-seater sedan :ar owned by Mr. H. Waugh, of Manning street and valued at £9OO was found destroyed by fire at the rear of the Auckland Zoo early yesterday morning.
While cruising in a police patrol car m Mount Albert about 2 a.m., Sergeant “• Grace and his driver saw a car which answered the description of the stolen vehicle. They pursued the car, but the driver accelerated to 75 m.p.h, and escaped. Two hours later the smouldering remains of the stolen car were found in a lonely spot behind the roo.
