Film Writer To Be Reinstated In Job
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 19. A jury ordered Metro-Goldwyn-Maycr to reinstate the screen writer, Mr. Lester Cole, in his 1350 dollars weekly job following his suspension for refusing to tell the House unAmerican Activities Committee whether he is a Communist. The verdict also compels M.G.M. to pay him 74,250 dollars accumulated back salary.
Mr. Cole had been dismissed under a morality charge in his contract with M.G.M., but the jury found that his conduct tiad not jeopardised the studio's public relations to a degree that warranted his suspension.
