N.Z. Butter Arrives Just In Time To Save Xmas Rations
LONDON. Dec. 19, At the urgent request of the Ministry of Food 220 London dockers are unloading one of the largest butter cargoes of the year from New Zealand from the steamer Rakaia. The reason for the Ministry’s request is that butter stocks are dangerously low, says the Sunday Express. The week-end unloading of the cargo —equivalent to 63,000,000 rations—is necessary to ensure that all families receive their Christmas butter allowance. The arrival of the Rakaia and the emergency unloading measures are expected to save the Ministry from an embarrassing position.
