(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 20. To obtain new hip joints Robin Norris, aged 17, Takapuna, will leave for Vancouver in the Aorangi on December 29 accompanied by his father, Commander A. J. Norris. R.N. Financial aid by the New Zealand and Auckland Crippled Children Societies has made the trip possible, Commander Norris said today. His son’s hip joints, he added, had stiffened by the uniting of bones. Normally, the operation would be performed in New Zealand, but in his 'son's case there were complications. “It is desir. able that he should go to Dr. M. N. Smith-Petersen, of the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He is the inventor of the opeartion for this complaint and is an acknowledged world expert in its execution.” Robin is second in the sixth form at the Takapuna Grammar School.
