NEW TANK RIVALS POLO PONY
NEW YORK, Nov. 14. The U.S. Army has developed a tank that rivals a polo pony for spinning in its tracks. When moving forward, the tank can be made to stop and back up quicker than any horse ever could. This has been made possible by the wobble-stick, a fitting similar to the old-time joy-stick in aeroplanes. It replaces the conventional steering wheel. Ordnance officials said the new steering mechanism was being used in combination with a highly complex transmission, called “cross drive.”
