SURPLUS WAR STORES BRING £130,000,000
SYDNEY, Dec. 16. The Commonwealth Disposals Commission estimates that its sales of surplus war goods will have realised about £130,000.000 by the end of the year. This does not include £10,000,000 over which the Treasury and the Netherlands East Indies are negotiating.
The commission began its work in September, 1944. Between December, 1945, and last month 2357 auction sales were held throughout Australia, realising £12.500.000. The sales included £1,000,000 worth of motor vehicle spare parts and 123,473 motor vehicles. Much material, including spares and vehicles, are still coming forward and will be sold by auction.
