MANAWATU CUP FIELD
ROBIN’S REWARD (17), 9.4, a firstclass handicap horse and revealed his best in his last start. MISS BAIRNSFATIIER (1). 8.10, has run good races this season. On her present form there is no denying her chances. WELCOME GUEST (20). B.G, is one that docs not inspire faith, though he is in great nick.
BARRAGE (2), B.G, won solidly last Saturday and appears to be at the peak of his form.
IMPERIAL (15), 8.5, just scraped
home last week; possibly 13 furlongs is a little far for him.
EMBROLITA (10). 7.12, ran third in a division at Otaki; has his trainer's confidence as a stayer.
YASDA (G). 7.12, is said to have been brought to a gradual state of fitness for this particular race; was unlucky, so it is said, when second last week.
LIEBESTRAUM (4), 7.11, does not appeal on Riccarton form. AUDACIOUS (9), 9.11, won well at Woodville, but will have to be taken on trust for the other three furlongs; is reported as very well. FAULTINA (5), 7.8. is a more than useful mare and at the weight is not without recommendation. TENOR ROYAL ( 12), 7.8, has no recent form, but is the “goods” when wound up. HORMUZ (19), 7.5, may or may not be in the mood. MERRY ROBIN (7). 7.5, is not strongly recommended, hut is the type to upset calculations.
NEW DEER (8), 7.4, may not stay. LORD LATOUR (18), 7.3, is racing without luck; is fancied by his connections.
DUNBAR GO), 7.2, stays well, hut prefers a soft track. EMERGE (14), 7.2, has a rough place show. Of the three on the minimum LORD HOLLAND (11) looks to possess the best chances as this season, although he has not won over a middle distance, has been six times placed.
