SPECTACUAR PAGEANT PLANNED BY FLYERS OVER DARTON FIELD

The biggest aerial display over Gisborne since the war years is planned for Sunday afternoon, when the Gisborne Aero Club intends to hold an air pageant. Five aircraft from the Hawke’s Bay Aero Club, Hastings, are expected to fly to Gisborne, to take part in bombing and landing competitions on Darton Field during the afternoon. The Gisborne Aero Club’s two Tiger Moth aircraft will be competing, together with two privately-owned machines, which are based at Gisborne.

A Proctor four-passenger machine is to be available to fly sightseers over the district. For those passengers who wish to fly in an open cockpit a Tiger Moth will be available.

Acrobatics are to be performed over the field by pilots who are highly skilled in this type of Hying. Novelty flying will also be a feature.
