TE HAPARA SCHOOL HAS PARENTS’ DAY
Yesterday afternoon the Te Tfapara School held its breaking-up ceremony in the form of a parents’ day, when several hundred mothers and fathers of the pupils inspected work on display in the classrooms, and were later entertained in the assembly hall by some excellent musical items from the school choir, conducted by the senior assistant, Mr. D. McWha, with Miss J. Montcith as accompanist. Tea was provided by a ladies committee from the Parent Teachers’ Association, assisted by the senior girls Unfortunately rain caused the cancellation of a drill display by the junior pupils. A brief call was paid by the headmaster and senior pupils of the North Clyde School, Wairoa, in the course of a sight-seeing trip. This year’s winner of the dux medal was Janice Halliwell. The chairman of the school committee, Mr. C- S. Goodson who made the presentation, addressed the visitors and extended the school's good wishes to the outgoing pupils.
