INSTRUCTION CLASSES FOR HAIRDRESSERS

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 16. Apprentices in the hairdressing industry will in the near future receive direct instruction in elementary hygiene at classes specially arranged for them if the Court of Arbitration makes a New Zealand apprenticeship order op the lines recommended by the New Zealand hairdressing apprenticeship committee, states the Commission of Apprenticeship, Mr. H. McQueen. ‘•Both employers and workers regard the making of the recommendation as an important step in helping to raise the standards of hygiene and professional skill in an industry which so much concerns the public.” states Mr. McQueen. “The committee proposes that apprentices should have a brief course in their employers’ time each year and hopes that when those courses are instituted not only apprentices, but also employers and journey men will find it possible to attend them.”
