SHOPS TO CLOSE FOR 4 DAYS AT XMAS & NEW YEAR
Housewives will he under the necessity of having to store food for four days over both the Christmas and New Year holidays, as all shops will be closed for this length of time in Gisborne. No bread will be available from Friday, December 24, to Wednesday, December 29, and for the same period over the following week-end. Butchers will also close their doors on December 24 and will not re-open until the following Wednesday. The late shopping nights will be on Friday, December 24, and Friday, December 31 respectively. Shops will remain open until 10 pan. on Christmas Eve and 9 pan. on New Year’s Eve. Transport services in and out of Gisborne bv rail, air and service car will continue over the holidays. Chemists will open between 7 and 8 pan. on the Monday and Tuesday in each instance.
