HIGH AWARD TO N.Z. GUIDE LEADER
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Doc. IG. News has just reached trie Dominion headquarters of the Girl Guides’ Association of the award of the Silver Fish to the Chief Commissioner, Miss H. Ruth Herrick, 0.8. E., of Hastings. This award is an imperial one and (he highest for good service to the movement that can be given to a uniformed guide member. Miss Herrick has been active in the guide movement since 1931. She became Chief Commissioner for the Dominion in 1934. She represented New Zealand at the world conference held in Poland in 1932 and again last year at a similar conference in New York.
The Queen, who is patroness of the guide movement, had expressed the wish that she might present the Silver Fish to Miss Herrick during Their Majesties’ proposed tour of New Zealand next year.
