GALA WILL CALL ON ALL AVAILABLE TALENT

Arrangements are now reaching finality in connection with the projected holiday carnival with which the Gisborne 30,000 Club will swell the Christmas and New Year attractions of the district and which will continue over the month of January. * The organisation has entered into an agreement with the Luna Park Amusement Company, Wellington, which is to provide 70 tons of equipment for all kinds of amusements and will also furnish trained staff to supervise the features. Mr. George Miller, a wellknown entertainment organiser who lias just completed a successful carnival at Wanganui, will promote and control entertainments ■ and competitions of all kinds. A feature of the December programme will be a large-scale series of contests for axemen and sawyers. This feature, scheduled for Boxing Day and the day following, will draw competitors from several centres of bush work and already the committee has in hand a large number of entries. The carnival programme will commence on Wednesday, December 22, and in addition to enteraining district residents over the holiday period should assist to attract large numbers of tourists.

The Gisborne 30,000 Club would appreciate offers of voluntary assistance with the carnival arrangements and in particular requires interested people to staff gates and to assist in conducting various attractions during their leisuro hours.
