INVERCARGILL ROYAL SHOW OPENS IN RAIN
(P.A.) INVERCARGILL, Dec. 14. The Royal Agricultural Show was opened in Invercargill today and will continue tomorrow and on Thursday. The entries, the bulk of which are drawn from the South Island, constitute a record for any Royal fixture. This is the fourth Royal Show to be held in Invercargill and excellent arrangements made by the Southland association ensure a successful fixture.
Unfortunately, the weather changed for the worse overnight with steady rain setting in and the indications are that it will continue throughout the day. Today the judging of the sheep, cattle and pig sections will be carried out and several competitions decided. The Minister of Agriculture, Mr. E. L. Cullen, who will officially open the fixture tomorrow, was an interested spectator. <•’ There is a good sprinkling of North Island visitors.
