Flown Home to Hospital
A long-awaited holiday in Australia was terminated suddenly when Mrs. M Lawless, Gisborne, stumbled and broke her leg in Sydney. Mrs. Lawless, who is aged 86, spent a short time in hospital in Sydney, but on Sunday flew the Tasman to Auckland. Yesterday she continued her journey, travelling by ambulance aircraft from Auckland to Gisborne. The plane left Auckland yesterday morning, and after a call at Tauranga, landed at Darton Field at 4 p.m. Mrs. Lawless was transported by ambulance to the Cook Hospital, where she was reported to b-c quite comfortable this morning.
