LIBERALS UNLIKELY TO STAND NEXT YEAR

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 14 A report published in Auckland last Thursday that the New Zealand Libera) Party would be nominating several candidates to contest seats at the general election next year was without the authority of the governing body in Wellington, slated the Dominion executive of the newly-formed New Zealand Liberal movement yesterday.

The executive added it was most unlikely that the movement would be organised sufficiently to place any candidates in the field for 1949. The movement. however, was progressing very satisfactorily, said an executive member. Branches had been formed and others were in process of formation and a national conference was to be convened early next year.. Special organisers had also been appointed in the North and South Islands.
