N.Z. Eight Brilliantly Wins N.S.W. Title

SYDNEY, Dec. 12,

Brilliant rowing and expert tactics resulted in the Aramoho,. New Zealand, crew beating some of the best crews in Australia to win the eight-oared championship of New South Wales on the Paramatta River. Of the four events contested in the Metropolitan regatta by the New Zealanders, they won two and came second in the others.

An outstanding feat of courage and endurance was that of J. Schneider, New Zealand sculling champion, who, thought far from well, took part in no fewer than three events. In the two single-sculls races he was second to the Olympic champion, M. Wood, and the former Australian champion. K. Webb, respectively, and with D. Simonson, he was successful in the double sculls.

Schneider is still suffering from the effects of sun and gastric trouble and spent the previous day in bed with what was believed to be appendicitis. Though cleared medically before he raced, he was affected by the interruption of training and lack of food. Conditions for the regatta, though threatening, remained almost perfect, with an overcast sky, a slight breeze and calm water. New South Wales Eight-oar Championship.—Aramoho (D. Morrison, W.
