CHRISTMAS MAlL.—Christmas and ordinary mail last week increased by about 15,000 letters passing through the Chief Post Office, Auckland, which is slightly more than the comparative week last year. Auxiliary staff, bringing the mail-room workers to 250, will operate from Monday. Beginning on December 15 last year, the mail-room handled an average of 255,000 letters a day, with the record of 321,000 on December 22, excluding packages or mail at suburban offices.
