Two Aust. Runners Not Coming To N.Z.
(11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec 13. The Australian Amateur Athletic Union has tentatively invited the quarter-mile runner Edwin Carr to tour New Zealand in Ferbuary with the Australian athletics team.
Carr, who had his first race of the season on Saturday, clocked the season’s fastest quarter-mile, 49-6 sec. Bartram is not available for the tour and Curotta has stated that he will not start in the ‘ Australian championships and may not be available for New Zealand.
The reason given is insufficient training.
The secretary of the union, Mr. A. J. Hodgson, said that Curotta might not be considered for selection in the team if he did not compete in the championships. The team would be chosen on form and not on reputations.
