PROPOSAL TO ASSEMBLY TO DELETE PARTITION FROM PALESTINE PLANS
PARIS, Dec. 10.
The United Nations Assembly was asked today to strike out the last mention of partition or Count Bernadotte in its Palestine-settlement scheme, reports the Associated Press. Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Brazil, China, Colombia and France submitted an amendment in the Assembly to the already-battered Anglo-American proposal. The amendment would remove any reference to the 1947 partition plan, or to any of the conclusions of- Count Bernadotte. It would also amend the method of setting up a three-nation conciliation commission.
The resolution proposed that the commission should be elected by the five big Powers, the United States, Russia, France, China and Britain. The rtsolution will probably be debated tonight.
