LACK OF APPLICANTS
No fewer than 85 advertised teaching appointments for which applications closed on November 29 drew no applicants at all or applicants who were ineligible or not available. This was revealed on the order paper before the Auckland Education Board. Of these vacancies, 82 were for assistant mistresses, They extended from Taumarunui to the far north.
