HOSTEL FOR SEAMEN
On the property bequeathed by Mr. P. Oag, the British Sailors’ Society has erected a small hostel, the Peter Oag Hostel, for convalescent merchant seamen, at Karehana Bay, Wellington. There will be accommodation for five or six convalescent seamen for a few weeks on their discharge from hospital. At any time there is an average of 30 seamen in hospital in Wellington, and at least 12 of them are overseas sailors.
