Wanganui Recovers: Hawke Cup Match

(P.A.) - WANGANUI, Dec. 13. Wanganui to a large extent retrieved their bad start made on Friday in the Hawke Cup cricket match with Hutt Valley. The overnight score had Hutt Valley in a most favourable position—33B for the first innings—and Wanganui had 23 on the board without loss. Wanganui seemed in a hopeless position by lunchtime on the second day, losing five wickets for 105; but good batting in the afternoon by L. W. Condliffe, 80 not out H. B. Cav« 67, and R. E. Brown represented a wonderful recovery. Wanganui was dismissed for 298, and at the end of the day's play Hutt Valley had 55 on the board for the loss of two wickets.
