FLOODS FOLLOW GALES IN BRITAIN

Floods today followed gales which sprang up suddenly last night and lashed many parts of England. A number of ships are aground and rivers have burst their banks. Many hundreds of acres of low-lying land in West Sedgmoor. Somerset, arc flooded. Budc experienced its worst flood for 45 years. Farmers in the Tcifi Valley. South Wales, reported losses of cattle and sheep with meadowlands flooded to a depth of six feet. In Cardigan people sought refuge in their upper rooms from the floodwnters.
