NURSE CHARGED WITH SETTING FIRE TO BLANKETS

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 10. A 36-year-old woman described as a nurse was charged in the Magistrate's Court today with wilfully setting fire to a boarding-house in Wellington on November 3 and December 1. The charges against the accused were that she set fire to blankets on November 3 in a boarding-house knowing that the building was likely to be set on fire,

and that on December 1 she set fire to some newspapers in a boarding-house knowing that the building was likely to be set on fire.

On the application of the police, the magistrate, Mr. A. M. Goulding, granted a remand until January 19.

An application for the suppression of the name, made by counsel for the accused, was opposed by the police. The magistrate said he could not make an order for the suppression of the accused's name, but would leave the matter to the discretion of the press.
