Man And Woman Fined On Gaming Charges
(P.A.) NELSON, Dec. 7. Pleading guilty to a charge of keeping a common gaming house, Laurence Bann d’Eganneh, single, a manufacturing confectioner, was fined £4O in the Magistrate’s Court. The police said that up to the time of their visit he had taken bets amounting to £Bl. He had started taking bets on horse racing in October. Elsie Snowden, a widow, also pleaded guilty to a similar charge. The police said they found betting material in Mrs. Snowden’s home. Up to 11.30 o’clock on Saturday morning she had taken bets totalling £47. The defendant was fined £3O.
