TIMBER LOSS IN LUMSDEN MILL FIRE
(P.A.) INVERCARGILL, Dec, 8. About 200 cords of slabs a.id 20,000 ft. of timber were destroyed by fire at the Barrow Box Company's sawmill, six miles from Lumsden last evening. It is believed that a spark from the incinerator ignited a stack of slabs and racked limber. With the aid of a tractor, a millhand pulled apart the racks of timber and made a firebreak which prevented the (tames spreading to the remaining timber, between 60,000 ft. and 80,000 ft. and to the mill itself.
