Infantile Paralysis Heaths The funeral took place at Tuparoa on Sunday of Tai Grace, aged seven, son of Mr. and Mrs. Riwai Grace. The child died two days after his illness was positively indentified as poliomyelitis. This was tire second case within the last few months in the Ruatoria area. A third sufferer, at Tikitiki, died yesterday. Card Evening A particularly well attended card evening was held in the Gaiety Theatre supper-room, the funds being for the Anglican Church building programme for Ruatoria. Five-hundred was the main attraction, but the cribbage and bridge tables were well patronised. Prizes went to Mrs. Ward and Mrs. Hickey. The hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Goodman and a willing band of helpers, A delightful home-cooked supper was served.

Dance at Nga-Tama-Toa A most enjoyable dance was held on Saturday in the Nga-Tama-Toa dininghall, Iliruharama. in aid of the Rongohaere marae. Music was supplied by the “Egg Beaters” and a sit-down savoury supper was a feature of the evening. The amount raised was £43. Cricket Instruction

Mr. R. Sheffield, physical culture officer of the Internal Affairs Department, is greatly responsible for bringing enthusiasism among cricketers on the Coast to a higher pitch than ever. Play at Te Horo for the Kaua Memorial Cup continued during the_week-end and it is hoped to play the finals next week. In the coming week-end. the Ruatoria Tennis Club will visit Te lioro, while the cricket first eleven will play a return match at Tokomaru Bay.
