ESCAPE FROM RED REGIME IN PRAGUE : EX-LEADER’S STORY
(N.Z.P.A. —Routur—Copyright.) (11 a.m.) LONDON, August 29. Dr, Peter Zenkl, a former deputy Prime Minister of Czechoslovakia, arrived in London from Paris today. "The last six months were worse for me and my wife than my six years in Buchenwald concentration camp, ’ ’ he said.
Dr. Zenkl, who is going to the United States in a fortnight's time, added:— “Since the Communist coup my life has been in danger all the time.” Dr. Zenkyi said he carne to Britain to help free Czechoslovakia from Communists. Dr. Zenkyi was in tears with the warm reception that other Czech refugees gave him. He disclosed his part in the scheme which led to his escape
on August 7. “With my wife and two watchers —I was always watched—l visited my brother's grave. We were all put into a motor-lorry blindfolded. Less than four hours later we were in the American zone and safe. We could not see who saved us. They would be partisans of course.”
