Blood Transfusions In Plane For 7½ Hours Save Man’s Life
(11 a.m.) BRISBANE, Aug. 30. A continuous bloocl transfusion for 7i hours kept a man alive during a 750-mile flight from Barcaldine, central Queensland, to Brisbane. The patient, who was bleeding internally, received half a gallon of blood while the plane was in flight and had almost exhausted the supply when the plane touched down. Strong head winds forced the plane to land at Rockampto nto refuel, but flying ‘conditions were better for the rest of the trip. The patient’s condition was fair when he reached the hospital.
