Dominion R.S.A. Under Fire For Opposing Commercial Building

(P.A-) NEW PLYMOUTH, Aug. 4. Disagreement with the policy stated by the Dominion executive of the Returned Services’ Association that housing for ex-servicemen should exclude all other buildings, was expressed last night by the executive of the New Plymouth R.S.A. which took the view that commercial building for rehabilitation should be a close second in priority to housing. The discussion arose from a minute from the Dominion executive council meeting recording the council’s refusal to supnort an ex-serviceman's application for a permit to erect a petrol station because its policy favoured housing. Strong comment on the attitude of some members of the Dominion executive was voiced by Mr. W. T. Vaughan who said that some aspects of the Dominion executive's policy were a disgrace. "They are comfortably settled themselves 'and their own businesses are going along well,” he declared ‘They do not know what it, is 1o go short and they do not appreciate the position of some men of the Second World War. T feel we should take definite steps to alter the views of some.”
