DECREASE IN ALL VITAL STATISTICS
A decrease in all vital statistics for the seven months of this year compared with last year is recorded in the Gisborne district.
Last month 53 births were registered in Gisborne, six more than July, 1947. The total of 388 births for the seven months of this year is well below the 437 recorded in the corresponding period last year Deaths last month totalled 2S. 11 more than in July last year, while the total for this year to date is 133, 16 more than last year Seventeen marriage notices were issued last month, three more than in July, 1947. Marriages to date this year total 149, as against 165 last year. Five marriages were performed by" the registrar last month, three less than in July last year. To date this year 26 have been by the registrar, 12 less than in 1947.
