INCREASED HOSPITAL BENEFIT SOUGHT
(P.R.) WELLINGTON, July 23. An increase in the present benefit of 9s a day in private hospitals for surgical and hospital cases was the object of a notice of question in the House of Representatives today by Mrs. G. H. Ross (Oppos., Hamilton), who pointed out to the Minister in charge of social security that it had been estimated that the cost of a bed in a private hospital was 27s a day, and in view of that an increase froni 9s to 12s was recently _ granted in maternity benefits. Surgical and hospital benefits, however, were unchanged.
