NO RUSSIAN PRELATES FOR CHURCH CONGRESS
LONDON, July 22,
According to the Moscow papers, Izvestia and Pravda, the Orthodox Church and the Patriarchs of Alexandria, Antioch Georgia, Serbia, Rumania and Bulgaria, at the meeting which celebrated the five hundredth anniversary of the Russian Orthodox Church’s independence, decided not to participate in the universal Council of Churches which will meet at Amsterdam in August. The Orthodox Church leaders described the World Church Council as political and anti-dcmocratic and called the Vatican the “centre of international fascism”.
