MR. FUSSELL GOVERNOR OF RESERVE BANK
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 22. Mr. E. C. Fussell has been appointed governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand in succession to the late Mr. W. F. L. Ward. “I am extremely pleased that a young New Zealander who has had his complete training in banking in the Dominion and who has represented New Zealand in the United Kingdom and elsewhere has been appointed to the highest banking position in the country,” said the Minister of Finance, Mr. W. Nash. The Minister added that Mr. Fussell had been with the bank since its inception first as secretary then as assistant to the governor from which position he was appointed deputygovernor in 1941. Mr. Fussell was born in Auckland in 1901 and holds the degree of bachelor of arts.
