SOCCER REPS. TO PLAY FOR E.C. ROSE BOWL
(By "Forward”) Followers of soccer arc Being provided with two representative fixtures between the keen rivals, Poverty Bay and Hawke’s Bay, at the Childers Road Reserve, Gisborne, tomorrow. The seniors are to meet in (he annual contest for the East Coast Rose Bowl at present held by Hawke's Bay. The donour of the trophy, Mr. R. Johnstone, Gisborne, is expected to be in attendance to make the formal presentation on the conclusion of the match. Even play of a good standard is expected to characterise this and also the junior game. The juniors will be meeting for the second occasion this season on the Gisborne ground. In Ihe first round of the Junior National Cup contest a fortnight ago Poverty Bay won by the odd goal in five in what was regarded as a brilliant display for players of the grade. In tomorrow’s further trial, which for the home players will be a preliminary to the cup North Island semifinal with Wellington the following week, it is expected that they will be extended fully to repeat the earlier success against Hawke's Bay.
