Mountpark Tribunal Order of Reference Liberally Expanded
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, July 21. The order of reference for the Mountpark waterfront dispute tribunal was disclosed today. It is generally regarded as sufficiently wide to open up long-standing problems in the waterside industry, particularly in regard to the system of control. The Government's original intention to narrow the inquiry to specific questions relating to the hatches of the wheat ship Mountpark have obviously been expanded under pressure from the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Union. The union’s case will be conducted by the national president, Mr. 11. Barnes, of Auckland. The Waterfront Industry Commission will be represented by Mr. T. P. Cleary, of Wellington, and the Waterside Employers’ Association by Mr, C. A. Hamer, of Auckland.
